Work around for when the printer drivers in windows will not update.

1. Open Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del)

2. Click Sevices Tab and then Services Button (Bottom Right)

3. Under Name find "Windows Update"

4. Right click "Windows Update" and select Stop. do not close

5. Open Window Exploper and browse to C:\Windows

6. Delete the Folder "SoftwareDistribution"

7. Go back to Servies, Right click "Windows Update" and select Start

  We need something like this for when xp can't get the windows update to work, too

  In windows 7, I had to type services.msc in the search all programs field (not hit enter, yet), and when it found it in the list, right click and say run as administrator else i couldn't stop services on at least stacey's windows 7 machine.
